How are your fine art prints made?

Our fine art prints are created by masters of the craft using the most advanced giclée printing technology and high-density pigmented inks on handmade cold press archival acid and lignin free 100% cotton rag watercolor paper. This luxurious heavyweight 300 GSM paper is specially prepared with a coating developed in-house by a dedicated chemistry team to achieve archival images boasting the highest color gamut possible.

What are the various styles of prints?

Idlewild Studio artist, Trent Tate, makes each work of art in our collection specifically for our printmaking process. The images are created using a proprietary technique developed by the artist involving combinations of several sculpture, painting, and digital rendering software platforms to interpret unique perspectives of the work. The artist has developed three different signature styles for each edition. We named these three signature styles Graphite, Carbon, and Silver.

The Graphite print editions reflect the artist's preparatory graphite on paper drawing approach, rendered in a more refined and pristine manner. The Carbon editions lean toward the artist’s Baroque chiaroscuro charcoal painting aesthetic, and the Silver editions are inspired by the kinetic and metallic feeling of pinhole and Daguerreotype photography. More detailed information about these unique styles can be explored in the descriptions which are found by following the “Shop Gallery” links underneath each image.

Are your prints signed?

Each image is signed by the artist before printing. The artist’s signature appears in the 2” white border, centered just below the image.

Where are your fine art prints made?

All of our prints are made in Austin, Texas, U.S.A.

How are framed prints finished out?

Framed prints are displayed on a floating frame mount, protected by an acrylic shield, and offer a premium dust cover backing with hanging hardware attached.

Outer dimensions for our framed prints are:

22” x 16" Print

25 ½" x 19 ½" Framed outer dimensions

40” x 28” Print

How are unframed prints packaged?

Unframed prints are packaged in a protective tube for shipping.  Please be very careful when removing the print from the tube, as the surface can be scratched.  Do not set objects on the print to flatten it.  We recommend gently unrolling the print upon arrival to inspect it, then carefully rolling it back up and redepositing it into the shipping tube to store until it is taken to a frame shop.
